Samsung is preparing to launch One UI 8, which is based on Android 16. Recently, the company released One UI 8 Beta 2 for the Galaxy S25 series, introducing several bug fixes and feature enhancements. Among the new features, a recent leak has highlighted an innovative addition called Call Captions.
The information about Call Captions comes from an Indian tipster, Tarun Vats, who shared insights on X. He mentioned that this feature is part of the One UI 8 ZYF5 build, which differs from the current Beta 2 carrying the ZYF3 build number. While it remains unconfirmed, it is anticipated that the ZYF5 build will accompany the next Beta update.
So, what does the Call Captions feature do? As its name implies, Call Captions converts speech into text in real time. Although the feature is still in its early stages and not yet stable, there is hope that it will be refined for the final release.
Descriptions available indicate that the feature aims to assist those with hearing difficulties by displaying spoken words on the screen during calls. Users are encouraged to inform the caller that the conversation is being captioned for clarity. This feature could prove particularly useful not only for individuals with hearing impairments but also in noisy environments, where it can be difficult to catch what the other person is saying over the phone.
By providing a visual representation of spoken dialogue, Call Captions enhances communication and accessibility for a wider audience, reflecting Samsung’s commitment to improving the user experience with One UI 8.
