Gone are the days when buying headphones or earphones meant you could simply use them without worrying about software. Now, modern earbuds often rely on software updates to enhance performance and fix bugs.
If you own a pair of Google Pixel Buds Pro 2, you should be aware that an update is currently being rolled out. The latest update for the Pixel Buds Pro 2 is a minor firmware upgrade, aimed primarily at fixing bugs.
Google announced this with the release of firmware version 3.154, clarifying that users shouldn’t expect any major new features or significant changes in functionality. Instead, this update focuses on ensuring that your earbuds operate smoothly.
For those with automatic updates enabled, the process is straightforward. Your earbuds will automatically update when connected to a Pixel device running Android 6.0 or higher.
Google indicates that the download should take roughly 10 minutes, and users can continue using their earbuds during this time. Once the download is completed, the update will install automatically when the earbuds are placed back in their charging case.
If you prefer manual updates or have automatic updates disabled, you will receive a notification on your device when the update becomes available. You’ll then need to initiate the download, which Google estimates will take about 15 minutes.
As for the future of the Pixel Buds line, the Pro 2 model was only recently released in 2024, so those eager for the Pixel Buds Pro 3 will have to wait. Google seems to refresh its earbuds every couple of years, which is perfectly acceptable given that the Pro 2 already offers impressive sound quality and has incorporated AI functionalities, making them a solid choice for users interested in the latest technology.
