Huawei made waves in the technology industry last September when it unveiled its first-generation tri-fold smartphone, the Huawei Mate XT. The device was lauded for its sleek design and impressive features.
Now, the company is reportedly gearing up to release its second-generation tri-fold smartphone, potentially named the Huawei Mate XT2, this coming September, according to sources from China. If the information holds true, Huawei plans to enhance their new device with the in-house Kirin 9020 processor, which is expected to feature a more efficient or tailored version of the System on Chip (SoC) to boost overall performance.
However, specific details about the laptop’s specifications have not yet been confirmed. Additionally, there are indications that Huawei will incorporate significant upgrades in durability, performance, and camera features in the upcoming model.
It is rumored that the phone will sport a multi-spectral lens for improved color precision in photography, following the addition of the “Red Maple Primary color shooter” in the new Mate 70 series. While rumors suggest that the Mate XT2 may retain the same display as its predecessor—which has already won users over—exciting advancements like a larger battery and enhanced fast-charging capabilities are anticipated.
At the same time, Samsung is reported to be planning the launch of its first tri-fold smartphone, likely named the Galaxy G Fold, also in September. This could lead to an intriguing competition in the market, with Huawei poised to beat Samsung to the launch.
Recent leaks hint that Samsung’s device will support 25W wired charging, a relatively slow speed compared to Huawei’s current offerings, such as the Mate XT, which boasts 80W wired charging. As both companies gear up for their launches, only time will reveal how the competition unfolds.
