Motorola is currently developing a new flagship smartphone known as the Motorola Edge 70 Ultra, which is set to launch in 2026. Insights from renowned tipster Evan Blass revealed that while there may not be an Edge 60 Ultra, the Edge 70 Ultra is confirmed to be in the pipeline.

This year, Motorola released several models under the Edge 60 series, including the Edge 60s, 60 Stylus, 60 Fusion, and 60 Pro. The absence of an Edge 60 Ultra suggests that the company is reserving this flagship designation for the next generation.

With Evan’s assertion that the Edge 70 Ultra is “definitely” coming, it appears that Motorola is committed to delivering a high-end non-foldable smartphone in 2026, particularly following the release of the Razr 60 Ultra this year which catered to the premium segment. At this stage, specific details about the Motorola Edge 70 Ultra remain scarce.

Its predecessor, the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra, was powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. Expectations suggest that the Edge 70 Ultra might feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, potentially releasing in the first half of 2026.

However, if Qualcomm offers a different model that performs comparably, Motorola might consider integrating that chipset instead. It is intriguing that Motorola chose to bypass the Edge 60 Ultra altogether.

This decision may have been influenced by the sales performance of the Edge 50 Ultra, as it raises questions about the manufacturer’s strategy for its flagship devices. As the release date approaches, more information is likely to emerge regarding the Edge 70 Ultra, but for now, it marks an exciting prospect for Motorola’s high-end smartphone lineup.
