Since its launch in February of last year, Google has been consistently enhancing the capabilities of its Gemini chatbot. The company is focused on delivering several quality-of-life improvements to the app.
Rumors suggest that Google may soon introduce the autocomplete feature from the Google Search app into the Gemini application for Android devices. This information emerged from an APK teardown of the Google app version 16.21.5.5 beta conducted by Android Authority.
If implemented, the autocomplete functionality in Gemini will help users save time by eliminating the need to type out their entire queries. The predictive suggestions in the Gemini AI assistant are expected to function similarly to the classic autocomplete feature in Google Search.
However, currently, it appears that this feature is only operational in new conversations with the Gemini chatbot in the Android app. Observations indicate that autocomplete suggestions do not appear in ongoing discussions and are notably absent from the Gemini overlay.
This situation may evolve, depending on when Google officially releases the feature. Demonstrations have shown that Gemini’s autocomplete feature operates like the one in Google Search.
As users input a few characters, the feature suggests multiple query options. The suggestions become increasingly precise as users continue typing, mimicking the autocomplete experience found in Google Search.
At this time, it is uncertain when Google will roll out this new feature for the Gemini app. However, given that it is fully functional in the recent beta version of the Google app, a release could occur within days or weeks.
We will keep you updated on any developments regarding this feature, so stay tuned for our latest news.
