Smartphone users typically unlock their devices numerous times each day, making the lock screen an ideal space to display advertisements. Capitalizing on this, the ad tech company Glance has started placing ads on the lock screen of smartphones. In a recent collaboration with Samsung, Glance is set to introduce a new AI shopping experience for Galaxy device users.
According to a press release from Glance, the partnership focuses on enhancing the Samsung Galaxy Store by integrating generative AI. This innovative approach aims to improve commerce and content discovery, promoting trending content, local events, and social media highlights. The AI shopping feature is currently rolling out to Samsung Galaxy devices in the United States, with the significant advantage that participation is fully opt-in, implying it won’t be activated automatically for all users.
Additionally, Glance AI is available as a standalone app. This app can facilitate personalized shopping experiences by generating hyper-realistic images of users in outfits suited to their individual styles, based on a single selfie. This functionality aims to aid Samsung Galaxy users in visualizing themselves wearing different garments, facilitating quicker purchase decisions.
The rollout of the AI shopping experience on lock screens began today, targeting certain Galaxy smartphone models in the U.S. While this is a phased introduction, all eligible users should expect to access the feature within approximately 30 days. The initial phase includes the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy S24 series (including S24 FE), Galaxy S23 series (including S23 FE), and Galaxy S22 series.
It remains likely that these updates are linked to a Galaxy Store refresh, though no official confirmation has been provided regarding that aspect.
