Currently, the race among technology companies to produce the thinnest foldable phone is heating up. Recently, HONOR made headlines with the launch of the HONOR Magic V3, showcasing significant advancements in design. In response, Vivo is stepping into the spotlight with the teaser for its upcoming Vivo X Fold 5, which may claim the title of the thinnest foldable phone on the market. Accompanied by a teaser video, Vivo has teased the X Fold 5, revealing some intriguing details.
The brief 16-second clip features a direct comparison of the weight between the Vivo X Fold 5 and its predecessor, the Vivo X Fold 3. The scale’s tilt towards the Vivo X Fold 3 suggests that the new model will be considerably lighter. Reports indicate that the X Fold 5 could weigh around 209 grams, which is a reduction of 10 grams from the 219-gram weight of the previous version. While this amounts to a 4% decrease, it is certainly a welcome change.
In addition to the teaser, credible leaks are hinting at a potential launch later this month, sparking excitement among fans. Rumored specifications for the Vivo X Fold 5 include a 6.53-inch cover screen and an 8.03-inch internal display, both with a 120Hz refresh rate and the internal screen boasting a 2K resolution. With 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, the device promises efficient performance despite possibly trailing behind competitors like the Oppo Find N5 and the HONOR Magic V5 in processing speed. The camera setup is impressive as well, featuring three 50-megapixel sensors on the back and two 32-megapixel cameras for selfies.
Additionally, the battery is expected to be a robust 6,000mAh, with fast charging options. When unfolded, the X Fold 5 is anticipated to measure just 4.3 mm in thickness, making it comparable to standard slab phones when folded. With strong competition from brands like Oppo and Samsung, all eyes will be on how Vivo positions the X Fold 5 in this dynamic market.
