OPPO is set to unveil its new imaging brand, ‘Lumo’, ahead of the launch of its flagship phone series. The announcement will occur at a launch event scheduled for April 2 at 7:30 PM local time in China. Lumo is being positioned to enhance portrait photography, especially in low-light situations.
This new imaging brand will debut during the OPPO 2025 Imaging Technology Event, with anticipation building around its features. OPPO has indicated that Lumo will utilize advanced optical design in conjunction with the computational capabilities of its upcoming devices. Liu Zhou, OPPO’s Chief Product Officer, emphasized that Lumo aims to deliver the best mobile imaging system for capturing portraits.
The OPPO Find X8 Ultra is expected to be the first device to incorporate Lumo’s technology. Among the standout features of Lumo are a new ultra-light-sensitive optical system, Danyan original color lenses, and ProXDR technology designed to ensure accurate color rendering. OPPO has shared camera samples from the Find X8 Ultra, highlighting its performance in low-light portrait scenarios and drawing comparisons to competitors, such as the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Despite the timing of this announcement falling on April 1, which could raise some skepticism, OPPO’s consistent efforts in promoting advancements in low-light portrait photography lend credibility to the announcement. It appears that there is genuine excitement surrounding Lumo and its potential impact on mobile photography. The imaging brand’s launch is anticipated to set a new standard for capturing portraits, reflecting OPPO’s commitment to innovation in mobile technology.
