Samsung is steadily progressing with the rollout of the One UI 7 update, a release that has faced multiple delays. Initially, the focus was on flagship models, including the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6. Now, mid-range devices are receiving attention, with the Galaxy A25 and Galaxy A16 4G starting to get the update.
The One UI 7 update for the Galaxy A25 is currently available, although users in the US will need to be patient, as it has initially been released for South Korean units only. The update has an approximate size of 3.5GB and carries the firmware version A256NKSU5CYE2. Importantly, it also includes the May 2025 security patch, addressing various system vulnerabilities.
As time progresses, the update is expected to expand to other regions. In contrast, the Galaxy A16 4G has received the One UI 7 update in South Korea some weeks ago, and it is now rolling out in additional countries, including Iraq and Malaysia. This update comes with firmware version A165FXXU3BYE6 and requires around 3.1GB of data.
Similar to the A25, it also includes the May 2025 security patch to enhance system security. Looking ahead, it seems that users won’t experience excessive delays for the subsequent One UI 8 update. While One UI 7 was notably late, typically, Samsung releases new versions around October or November.
This time, the company appears to be on track, having conducted internal tests on One UI 8 for some time. Public beta testing for flagship models is scheduled to begin in June, with the final version expected to launch in the summer alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7.
