Following the unexpected emergence of China’s DeepSeek with its powerful and affordable AI model, the urgency for the US tech sector to advocate for supportive policies has increased.

Suggestions include easing restrictions on the export of AI chips. Stakeholders argue that promoting AI that upholds democratic values is crucial for national interests. Microsoft President Brad Smith emphasized the significance of global adoption of technology in defining the outcome of the AI race between the US and China.

He compared this competition to the past race in 5G technology, where early dominance is difficult to overturn. Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, shared similar concerns, highlighting that substantial investments in infrastructure are essential for AI advancements.
