Samsung’s journey with the Android 15-based One UI 7 was tumultuous, but the update has finally reached a wide array of Galaxy phones and tablets. To avoid similar issues with the upcoming One UI 8 update, Samsung is preparing to launch the first Android 16-based One UI 8 beta. According to reports from SamMobile, the initial beta version is expected to be available later this month.
The rollout of the One UI 8 beta update, which is based on Android 16, is scheduled for the third week of May. However, it is important to note that this beta program may not be as expansive as those in the past. Initially, only a select number of Samsung devices in specific markets will have access to the update.
A broader release to a larger audience is anticipated by June. It is likely that the Galaxy S25 series will be among the first to receive the update in South Korea. Subsequent rollouts may occur in Europe and the US shortly thereafter.
Many anticipated that the release of Android 16 would coincide with the launches of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, suggesting a possible One UI 8 release around July. Fortunately, it seems that Samsung is on track to ensure a smoother rollout for the One UI 8 beta update this time around. As for the features of the One UI 8 beta update, early reports indicate enhancements such as AI Video Summary, an upgraded version of DeX, and the possibility of increased VRAM for devices.
An updated app drawer will display installed applications in a more streamlined pop-up window. Additionally, improvements like enhanced controls for the Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro will be available for older earbuds, alongside general UI refinements aimed at enhancing user experience across eligible Samsung devices.
