The highly anticipated foldable iPhone is set to debut next year, and recent insights are beginning to emerge regarding its design and features. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his latest newsletter, the upcoming device will possess two significant advantages, mainly targeting Samsung as its primary competitor, with less emphasis on brands like OPPO, Vivo, and Xiaomi. One of the standout features of the foldable iPhone will be a crease that is “nearly invisible.”

This innovation aims to provide a more seamless internal display, enhancing the user experience by minimizing any interruptions while viewing content. Additionally, the device will feature a hinge said to be of “much higher-quality.” With many current foldable devices utilizing titanium for their hinges, it remains to be seen what advancements Apple will incorporate.

Leaks from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggest that the foldable iPhone will have a smaller outer display and a significantly larger inner display. The expected dimensions include a 7.8-inch inner screen and a 5.5-inch outer screen, trailing closely behind the Pixel Fold of 2023, which offered a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.8-inch outer display. The outer display’s aspect ratio was 17.4:9, and if Apple reduces the bezels on its device, it could achieve a similar or even more favorable aspect ratio, appealing to consumers.

As Apple is still in the prototype phase with over a year until the launch, there is room for changes and tweaks. However, the arrival of the foldable iPhone is poised to significantly boost interest and development in foldable devices across the tech landscape.
