Google has recently teased its new first-party app, NotebookLM, showcasing its design ahead of the official launch at Google I/O 2025. Although the app is not yet available for download, it has been listed on both the Google Play Store for Android and the App Store for iOS. The design reveals a clean interface featuring four primary tabs: Recent, Shared, Title, and Downloaded. Beneath these tabs, users can view a list of their notebooks, each accompanied by a play button on the right side.
The play button is likely intended for launching the Audio Overview, enabling background playback and download options. The full-screen player includes a waveform animation and an option to join related podcasts. At the bottom of the homepage, a prominent ‘Create new’ button allows users to upload various types of content, such as PDFs, websites, YouTube videos, and copied text. This easy-access menu is designed to streamline the user experience, making it convenient to gather and organize information.
Additionally, the NotebookLM app will integrate with the share sheet, enabling users to share content directly from other apps into NotebookLM. This feature enhances usability by allowing seamless integration of shared materials. Inside the notebooks, users will find a new action bar at the bottom, which offers three options: Sources, Chat, and Studio. This layout is similar to the mobile website that Google currently provides for NotebookLM.
Lastly, Google has also showcased the app’s user interface for tablets and foldables. While users eagerly anticipate the official release, pre-registration for the NotebookLM app is already available for both Android and iOS devices.
