The One UI 7 update, based on Android 15, has been quite delayed in its rollout, leaving many Galaxy device users still awaiting its arrival. While most major Android brands had already updated their compatible phones months ago, Samsung opted for additional development time.

Fortunately, those who have received the Over-the-Air (OTA) update are now enjoying some exciting new features. One significant enhancement in One UI 7 is the introduction of media playback controls in Always On Display (AOD) mode.

AOD is designed to give users quick access to useful information without activating the full screen, which helps save battery life and prolongs the display’s durability. This functionality is made possible by the characteristics of OLED screens, which can selectively turn off individual pixels.

Over time, various manufacturers have made AOD an interactive feature, allowing users to access certain functions without unlocking their devices. With One UI 7, Samsung has finally incorporated interactive AOD media controls.

Previously, users could only view music information without any control options. However, the new update allows you to control playback directly from AOD.

Using the Now Bar feature, you can double-tap the media controls to skip, play, or pause songs, all without waking the screen. Importantly, this feature is available across all devices running One UI 7, rather than being restricted to select models.

A recent test on the Galaxy A36 confirmed the functionality worked perfectly, ensuring that more users can take advantage of these useful AOD capabilities. Now, Galaxy phone users can enjoy a more interactive experience with their media while minimizing battery usage.
