Samsung has begun rolling out One UI 7, based on Android 15, to its older Galaxy smartphones and tablets. This update introduces a variety of features and improvements, including the Now Bar.
This feature, which may appeal to some users, can be a distraction for others. If you’re one of those who prefer not to have the Now Bar intrude on your experience, it can be easily disabled on devices running One UI 7.
For those unfamiliar, the Now Bar is a pill-shaped UI element that appears on the lock screen, status bar, and the Always-On Display (AOD). It offers quick access to notifications, various information, and multimedia controls.
However, if you find the Now Bar unnecessary, there are options to remove it. To disable the Now Bar specifically from the Always-On Display, follow these steps: First, open the Settings app on your One UI 7 device.
Next, navigate to ‘Lock screen and AOD.’ Tap on the ‘Always On Display’ text, not the toggle switch.
Finally, turn off the Now Bar switch to disable it from the AOD. This action will not affect the Now Bar’s functionality on the lock screen or status bar.
If you prefer to fully disable the Now Bar, here’s how: Open Settings on your device, then go to ‘Lock screen and AOD.’ Select ‘Now Bar’ and tap ‘View More’ to expand the list of Live Notifications.
Toggle off the categories of Live Notifications you wish to disable. After completing these steps, the Now Bar will be deactivated on your Galaxy device.
Should you change your mind and want to re-enable it, simply return to the same settings and toggle the switches back on.
