A new rumor has emerged suggesting that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 could be the thinnest foldable smartphone in the world. However, skepticism surrounds the validity of this information. Let’s examine the details more closely. This claim originated from Greece and was reported by TechManiacs, with further dissemination by a tipster known as Anthony, also known as TheGalox_.

It is unclear where the original information came from, but many believe the details may not be reliable. The latest rumors indicate that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will measure 8.2mm in thickness when folded. For context, the OPPO Find N5, currently the thinnest book-style foldable smartphone, is 8.9mm thick. Given that Samsung’s previous Fold models have not been particularly thin, this claim appears questionable.

Notably, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is the slimmest variant but did not receive a global release. If we entertain the possibility that the rumors are accurate, the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s 8.2mm thickness would represent a remarkable 30% reduction compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which measures 12.1mm when folded. Despite these promising figures, skepticism remains high. Additionally, we previously disclosed the design of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 based on CAD renders, which indicated a thickness of 4.5mm when unfolded.

For comparison, the OPPO Find N5 is 4.2mm thick unfolded, while the Galaxy Z Fold 6 measures 5.6mm. Earlier rumors suggested a folded thickness of 9.5mm, which appears more plausible than the latest claims. While it would be exciting for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 to achieve an 8.2mm thickness, current evidence leads us to doubt its authenticity.
