Qualcomm is expected to introduce its new high-end mobile chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2, sometime in October. This timing mirrors last year’s release of the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which was also announced around the same period.

A report from January hinted at a substantial performance improvement for the upcoming chipset. Recent benchmarks from Geekbench have provided insights into its capabilities, and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 has appeared on AnTuTu with promising results.

Early indications suggest that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 will outperform its predecessor significantly. Notably, the new Adreno 840 GPU is anticipated to showcase a higher clock speed at its launch.

According to a user on X, the single-core performance score for the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 is reported to be 4,000 points, a notable increase from the predecessor’s 3,200 points. The multi-core performance is also expected to improve, reaching 13,000 points compared to last year’s chip, which had 10,300 points.

Moreover, the Adreno 840 GPU is rumored to operate at a clock speed of 1.35GHz, an upgrade from the Adreno 830’s 1.1GHz. In terms of overall performance metrics, a reliable tipster from China has shared that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 might achieve an impressive AnTuTu score of 3.8 million.

If verified, this would represent a 40.7 percent increase over the current leader, the iQOO 13, which ranks as the most potent Android smartphone on AnTuTu with a score just shy of 2.7 million. Additionally, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 is rumored to feature next-generation Oryon CPU cores, possibly two Prime cores alongside six Performance cores.

This chipset is expected to be manufactured using TSMC’s advanced N3P process, which offers enhanced technology compared to its predecessor’s N3E process. However, as the official launch approaches, changes to the final architecture may occur, warranting a cautious approach towards these revelations.
