Verizon has recently released its financial results for the first quarter of 2025, showcasing a 1.5% increase in operating revenue compared to the same period last year, totaling $33.5 billion. Despite facing a decline in subscribers, the telecom giant achieved strong financial performance.

The company reported its earnings at $1.19 per share on an adjusted basis, marking a four-cent increase from the previous year. In Q1 2025, Verizon’s wireless service revenue reached an impressive $20.8 billion, representing a 2.7% increase from the last year.

This figure surpassed analysts’ expectations, which had forecasted a revenue of approximately $20.44 billion. Additionally, the company generated $5.4 billion in wireless equipment revenue, reflecting a 0.7% annual growth.

However, the company endured a significant loss of 289,000 postpaid phone subscribers during the quarter, which was higher than the anticipated shortfall of 197,000. Postpaid subscribers represent the highest spending segment for mobile operators, making this loss noteworthy.

Despite the dip in postpaid subscribers, Verizon effectively managed to grow its overall revenue for Q1 2025. On a positive note, Verizon reported an addition of 339,000 internet subscribers during the same quarter, boosting its overall wireless subscriber base to 4.8 million.

Furthermore, the company added 45,000 new subscribers to its Fios service, although this was a decrease from the 53,000 added in the first quarter of 2024. Verizon aims to accelerate its Fios subscriber growth as it prepares to expand its service across nearly 30 states following its acquisition of Frontier.
