A new rumor suggests that Siri will receive an update this Fall, but it may not be the major enhancement many have been anticipating since Apple introduced Apple Intelligence last year. Users have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of exciting AI features, but it has become clear that they are not arriving as quickly as hoped. As we approach 2025, Apple has yet to roll out significant AI capabilities for its platform, leading to concerns about the company’s readiness to deliver. The latest news regarding the Siri update may feel like a letdown for those hoping for an enhanced version of the voice assistant.
Much like Amazon, Apple intends for much of its generative AI to focus on Siri, which is envisioned as a more capable agent on users’ smartphones. Ideally, Siri will perform numerous tasks across various applications for users. However, the current performance of Siri leaves much to be desired, as it still seems to be operating with 2016 technology. Recent reports indicate that Siri provided incorrect answers approximately 33% of the time in internal testing, with another analysis showing an incorrect response rate of 16.9%.
To ensure that Siri is functioning optimally before the release of this updated version, Apple has postponed the launch several times over the past year. The upcoming update is expected this Fall, but it is unlikely to include the “Personalized Siri” showcased last year. Instead, that significant upgrade may be delayed until next year. This is disappointing news for many, as the advanced AI features were anticipated to set the iPhone 17 apart from previous models.
Without them, another standard iPhone release may be on the horizon.
