Analyst Jeff Pu recently announced that Apple plans to launch both a foldable iPhone and a foldable iPad in 2026. However, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg posits that the iPad Fold will not be available until 2028.

It seems that Apple will likely prioritize the introduction of the foldable iPhone, aiming to acclimate users to foldable technology before releasing the more expensive iPad Fold. According to Pu’s insights, Apple is set to begin mass production of these devices in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Nevertheless, Gurman’s skepticism is notable, as he suggests it is improbable for Apple to release two high-priced products within such a short timeframe. He believes that Apple will first encourage consumers to embrace the foldable iPhone, which would then pave the way for the pricier iPad Fold.

Gurman’s track record with Apple information lends credibility to his predictions. The specifics of Apple’s foldable devices are starting to emerge.

The foldable iPhone is rumored to feature a 7.8-inch screen, while the iPad Fold is expected to boast an impressive 18.8-inch display. Interestingly, the iPhone’s aspect ratio will be similar to that of Apple’s current iPads, facilitating easier adjustments for developers who have already adapted their apps for iPad formatting.

As for the foldable iPad, reports indicate that a prototype is currently under development. Unlike the foldable iPhone, the iPad Fold is anticipated to incorporate Face ID under its display, which is seen as a significant enhancement over the existing Face ID system.

Space constraints may prevent Apple from including this feature in the foldable iPhone, but there is hope for future iterations. Speculation places the price of the foldable iPhone at around $2,000, although tariffs could inflate this figure even further.
