Revealing the Reason Behind the iPhone 17 Pro’s Oversized Camera Bar
The iPhone 17 Pro is set to feature an oversized camera bar on its rear, and recent leaks have shed light on the reasoning behind this design change. Apple is reportedly upgrading its periscope telephoto camera by using a larger sensor, which necessitates alterations inside the device. Recent internal renders have showcased the differences between the iPhone 17 Pro and its predecessor, the iPhone 16 Pro. The upcoming model is expected to replace the 12-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with a 48-megapixel version.
This new sensor will maintain the same 10x optical zoom level but will be larger, prompting the need for a redesign of the internal layout. Instead of moving the sensor position, Apple plans to rotate it, which will create additional space requirements on the right side of the camera bar. As a result, the modification will displace the LiDAR module, necessitating its relocation alongside the LED flash and a microphone on the right side. This configuration helps to justify the substantial size of the new camera bar, ensuring a balanced appearance.
