Samsung is beginning to deploy the April 2025 security update for several Galaxy devices. While the rollout has started, the company initially did not disclose the specifics of the new patch. Fortunately, a recent security bulletin has provided additional information. Typically, Samsung experiences delays in rolling out its One UI 7 software for eligible devices, but the company is known for its timely delivery of monthly security patches.
Flagship smartphones usually are the first to receive these updates. In its latest communication, Samsung elaborated on the improvements included in the April 2025 security update for Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Historically, Samsung’s security updates have sometimes introduced new features and improvements, such as enhanced camera capabilities. However, over the past several months, the focus of these updates has been primarily on addressing security vulnerabilities, especially as the development of One UI 7 has progressed.
According to the recent security bulletin, the April 2025 security update encompasses 56 fixes for security issues. Out of these, 42 fixes are provided by Google for the Android core, with five classified as “Critical” and 37 labeled as “High Priority.” In addition to the Google fixes, Samsung has implemented nine updates specific to its devices; one of these is considered “Critical,” while four are marked as “High Priority.” Furthermore, there are four fixes for “Moderate” vulnerabilities affecting Samsung’s hardware and software.
The vulnerabilities targeted by Samsung in this update relate to various features, including the Sticker Center, clipboard issues, HDCP, Samsung Contacts, wireless download protocols for Galaxy Watches, the input manager, and the Bluetooth pairing process for Galaxy Watches. The Galaxy S25 series has already started receiving the April 2025 security update, and users should expect a notification soon. Alternatively, users can manually check for updates under Settings > System > Updates.
