Google frequently updates its apps and services to enhance their appearance and introduce new features that users appreciate. However, Google Keep has not received much attention in terms of upgrades. Just over a month ago, the web version of Google Keep finally got a long-awaited text formatting feature. Fortunately, it seems the application is starting to get the updates it deserves.
A new report indicates that Google is gradually rolling out the Material 3 Expressive design language to Google Keep. This Material 3 Expressive design brings a refreshed look to the app, including a revamped search bar and other visual changes. Google has been implementing this new design across various apps, and Google Keep is now part of that update. As confirmed by Android Authority, version 5.25.252.00.90 of Google Keep has begun to incorporate the Material 3 Expressive design language.
User reports on platforms like Telegram have hinted at these modifications. The new search bar is one of the most noticeable changes. It is slightly taller and narrower, but interestingly, it no longer features the account switcher or hamburger menu buttons. Additionally, the text within the search bar has changed from “Search your notes” to “Search Keep.” Moreover, the shape of the search filter chips has also been redesigned.
Visually, Google Keep appears much neater after the makeover, featuring a toolbar with larger icons set against rounded backgrounds. The image previews within notes now have margins on the left and right, as well as rounded corners. However, the rollout of the Material 3 Expressive design is currently limited, but it is hoped that more users will receive these updates in the future.
