Google has been actively working on integrating its AI technology, Gemini, into various products, with RCS messaging potentially being the next addition. RCS, or Rich Communication Services, enhances traditional texting, allowing users to send high-resolution photos and videos and providing features like typing indicators, which inform senders when a recipient is responding. This functionality could significantly improve user experience.

Currently, Gemini can send messages but lacks support for RCS, meaning users miss out on those advanced features that enhance conventional texting. However, reports indicate that Google might soon change this, as there are suggestions that RCS support for Gemini is in development. Recent findings from the latest version of the Google App (16.25.44) reveal code referencing RCS capabilities connected to Gemini.

While it is not yet clear when or if this feature will be fully operational, the presence of RCS strings hints that Gemini may soon be able to leverage the device’s RCS features. This would allow for functionalities such as sending high-definition images and playing audio files or clips. Although there is currently no specific information on what Gemini will be able to do with RCS, Google’s commitment to enhancing the RCS experience on Android suggests that an announcement detailing Gemini’s capabilities might be forthcoming.

With time dedicated to perfecting RCS on their platform, Google is likely to provide updates that will clarify how Gemini can take advantage of these improved messaging features.
