Samsung is set to address the camera design issues that received significant criticism in the Galaxy S25 Ultra by implementing a new camera ring design in the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7. This new model will return to a sleeker aesthetic reminiscent of the Galaxy Z Fold 5, effectively resolving what many considered the worst design flaw of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The Galaxy S25 Ultra featured camera rings that appeared cheap and raised concerns about their overall quality. In response to the backlash, Samsung opted to revert to a more refined design for the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Although initial leaks suggested the phone might still incorporate the criticized camera rings, the final production version will showcase the improved design. Additionally, there are rumors that the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will adopt the same ring design as the Galaxy Z Fold 7, although confirmation on this point is still pending. The official debut of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is scheduled for July 9, during a launch event in New York City. Accompanying the Fold 7 will be the Galaxy Z Flip 7, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, and the Galaxy Watch 8 series.
Notably, the new foldable phone is expected to be significantly thinner than its predecessor. Samsung is reportedly reducing the device’s thickness by over 3mm when folded, bringing it in line with the OPPO Find N5, currently considered the slimmest book-style foldable on the market. Furthermore, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, creating a noticeable difference when comparing the two models side by side. However, Samsung has chosen not to implement a silicon-carbon battery in this version.
