Samsung has confirmed the announcement date for the Galaxy Watch 8, set for July 9 in Brooklyn. The event will begin at 10 AM ET (7 AM PT) and is expected to unveil the Galaxy Watch 8 alongside other devices such as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Typically, Samsung initiates pre-orders immediately following the Unpacked event.
This is anticipated to occur around noon on July 9, as the keynote usually lasts just over an hour. Generally, the devices are available in stores about a week and a half later, so the release date for the Galaxy Watch 8 is likely to be July 18. We will have more information after the official announcement on July 9.
The Galaxy Watch 8 is rumored to feature a redesign, incorporating a squircle shape with a round face reminiscent of the Galaxy Watch Ultra launched last year. While the general look may change, the overall functionality and features will reportedly remain consistent with previous models. The new watch series is expected to come in two sizes, approximately 40-41 mm and 44-45 mm, keeping the basic Galaxy Watch 8 models more compact compared to the larger Galaxy Watch 8 Classic and Galaxy Watch Ultra.
In 2025, it’s anticipated that AI features will become a focal point, even for smartwatches. Although specific features are yet to be disclosed, they are expected to mirror advancements already introduced by competitors, such as Apple. One potential feature to watch for is a workout buddy, similar to what will be available in watchOS 26 this fall.
Samsung has also previewed enhancements in its One UI 8 Watch, which includes features like Running Coach, Bedtime Guidance, Antioxidant Index, and Vascular Load, now in public beta.
