Samsung is currently rolling out the June 2025 security update for several Galaxy S21 models in the United States. The affected devices include the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, Galaxy S21 Ultra, and Galaxy S21 FE.

However, this update is initially available only for certain carrier-locked versions of these smartphones. More devices and unlocked models are expected to receive the update soon, though the U.S. is not the first country to see this rollout; other regions have had access to the update for weeks.

The June 2025 Android security update includes 18 fixes provided by Google, addressing vulnerabilities related to the Android operating system. Samsung has added an additional 19 fixes targeting issues within its own software.

As is standard with such rollouts, the update will reach users in phases. For those eager to check for the update immediately, it can be found in the settings menu.

It is important to note that the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra will not receive Android 16, marking the end of major Android OS updates for these models. Their last significant update was Android 15 with One UI 7.0.

In contrast, the Galaxy S21 FE will be eligible for the upcoming Android 16 along with One UI 8.0. If you own a device from the Galaxy S21 series, it might be worthwhile to consider an upgrade soon.

While you will continue to receive security updates, access to new Android OS versions and features will be limited. Samsung originally announced this lineup back in January 2021, with a promise of four years of major updates — a commitment they fulfilled, given that these devices now approach four and a half years in age.

Time indeed flies.
