Google is on the verge of launching its Android XR platform, although the glasses are not yet available for sale. Recently, leaks regarding the companion app have surfaced, suggesting the possible name for the product could be “Google Martha.” This leak was first noted by Search Engine Roundtable, which showcased an image featuring the companion app alongside a pair of XR glasses, prominently displaying the name Google Martha at the top. While “Google Martha” remains speculative, it is noteworthy as this is the first potential name linked to the glasses.

During the Google I/O event in May, Google introduced the Android XR glasses, but they did not disclose a name at that time. Attendees had the opportunity to experience the glasses firsthand, revealing their advanced features that outshine existing options like the Meta Ray-Ban glasses and the recently announced collaboration between Meta and Oakley. The Google Martha Android XR app appears to have functionality akin to the Pixel Watch app, as pointed out by DroidLife. Although detailed information about the app is limited, the leaked image indicates users will have options to customize settings.

For instance, the app will include a notifications section, allowing users to manage alerts, including the possibility of disabling them. Additionally, there is a feature labeled “recording your view,” likely enabling users to capture what they see while wearing the glasses. While the initiation mechanism for recording is currently unclear, it may be designed for ease of use. Furthermore, the app is expected to include options for user feedback, general settings, and a way to report issues.

This development marks an exciting step forward in Google’s venture into augmented reality.
