The Samsung Galaxy S22 series is now receiving the June 2025 Android security update in the United States. Initially rolling out in mid-June, the update took some time to reach users in the region. It is currently available for factory-unlocked versions of the Galaxy S22, including the Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra.
Carrier-locked models are expected to receive the update soon. This update, marked with the firmware version ‘S90xU1UES8FYF2’, is compatible with numerous networks. Users on AT&T, Bluegrass Cellular, Cellular South, Cricket, Comcast, DISH, MetroPCS, Nextech, T-Mobile, Tracfone, US Cellular, Verizon, and Xfinity Mobile can now access the latest security enhancements.
The update includes 18 Android security fixes from Google, as well as 19 additional security updates from Samsung for One UI 7, totaling 37 fixes. However, it does not introduce any new features. Users will be notified of the update automatically, but those eager to try it out can manually check for updates via the Settings app.
It is worth noting that the rollout is staged, meaning it may not be available for everyone at the same time. Furthermore, the Samsung Galaxy S22 series is also set to receive the Android 16 update, which will include One UI 8.0. This update is anticipated to start rolling out later this year, although the timing for its delivery to the Galaxy S22 series remains uncertain.
Earlier this year, Samsung quickly released Android 15 with One UI 7.0 for the Galaxy S22, fostering optimism for a swift rollout of Android 16 as well.
