Samsung’s next Unpacked event is set to take place in New York City on July 9th, where the company is expected to unveil its latest foldable smartphones. Anticipation surrounds the potential announcement of three new devices: the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and Z Flip 7 FE. Ahead of the event, several details regarding these upcoming handsets have already emerged, particularly concerning their battery capacities and endurance ratings.
Recent leaks, as reported by tech publication YTECHB, have revealed critical information about the battery specifications for the new foldables. Notably, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to disappoint some users, as it reportedly will not see any improvement in battery capacity. The new foldable is set to feature a rated battery capacity of 4,272mAh, similar to its predecessor, which had an actual capacity of around 4,273mAh.
Additionally, charging speeds may remain capped at 25W, mirroring the previous model. Further details indicate that the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s battery is projected to retain 80% health after 2,000 charging cycles, with a potential usage time of up to 40 hours and 28 minutes on a single charge. Another concern is the device’s IP rating, which may remain at IP48, providing limited protection against dust and water.
In contrast, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 may offer slightly better improvements, featuring a rated battery capacity of 4,174mAh. Samsung might market this device with a 4,300mAh battery, slightly larger than the previous model’s 4,000mAh unit. The Z Flip 7’s battery is expected to last up to 42 hours and four minutes.
Lastly, the more budget-friendly Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE could come with a 3,887mAh rated battery, lasting about 37 hours on a single charge and maintaining 80% health for 1,700 cycles. Like the other models, both the Z Flip 7 and Z Flip 7 FE are reported to have an IP48 rating. With the launch event approaching, official specifications will likely be revealed soon.
