Google is preparing to launch an extensive redesign of the Google Photos app, introducing a range of new features for its editor. Although these updates are set to be released soon, details have already emerged through a code analysis of version “7.34.0.772224975” by Android Authority. The redesign will primarily focus on enhancing the Google Photos editor, utilizing Material 3 Expressive design elements. Initially hinted at during the app’s 10th anniversary celebration, further information about the impending updates reveals a significant overhaul.
The redesign will introduce features such as rounded corners for the crop tool and updated shapes for walkthroughs, tiles, and buttons, aligning with Google’s latest design language. With the updated Google Photos editor, existing tools will be reorganized into distinct sections: Auto, Actions, Markup, Filters, Lighting, and Color. Notably, some tools will be repositioned; for instance, the Crop tool will move under the “Actions” section. Furthermore, a new “Auto” section will be added, providing three significant enhancement features: Enhance, Dynamic, and AI Enhance.
The updated interface will also include tools like Portrait Blur, Erase, Move, and Reimagine, along with an exciting new option in the Filters section called “Sky styles,” which offers dramatic skyline effects. One of the standout features of the redesigned editor will be a dedicated search button, enabling users to easily find specific editing tools by simply typing their names. This button will be conveniently located at the bottom right of the edit menu, streamlining the editing process. Google plans to roll out these new features for Google Photos in the coming weeks, marking a significant upgrade to the app’s design and functionality.
