The US versions of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy S22+ have recently appeared with Android 16-based One UI 8.0 in benchmarks on Geekbench. This indicates that Samsung is actively working on integrating Android 16 for these devices, showcasing significant development progress.
Notably, back in March, the Galaxy S25 was also seen running Android 16 and subsequently received beta builds of One UI 8. For the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Android 16 will mark its third major operating system upgrade.
In contrast, the Galaxy S22 series will receive its final update with this version. Earlier this year, Samsung rolled out One UI 7.0 based on Android 15, which introduced numerous changes, including a new design language, marking it as a substantial update.
As for One UI 8.0, it is anticipated that this update will not bring sweeping changes to Samsung devices. While some enhancements are expected, significant new features seem limited, especially considering the scale of the preceding update.
Many users may be curious about the rollout timeline for One UI 8.0. The launch is projected to begin around August or September.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 are set to be released in July with One UI 8.0, suggesting that other devices will likely follow shortly thereafter. It is estimated that the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6 will be among the firsts to receive the update, leaving Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy S22 series users awaiting their turn.
