Samsung May Replace Iconic S Pen Feature with an Exciting New Innovation
Samsung is reportedly considering significant changes to the S Pen technology in the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra, potentially introducing exciting new features. A tipster named PandaFlashPro shared on X that Samsung has developed “new S-Pen tech” that is ready for implementation in the Ultra model. The current S Pen technology in the Galaxy S25 Ultra relies on a digitizer, a setup that has been standard for several years.
If Samsung decides to eliminate the S Pen digitizer, it may create additional internal space for different components. According to the tipster, this space could be utilized for incorporating Qi2 magnets, reminiscent of Apple’s MagSafe technology for iPhones. Integrating these magnets directly into the Galaxy S26 Ultra would allow users to leverage the magnetic features and Qi2 charging without needing a case, which has been a limitation for previous models like the Galaxy S25 and Pixel 10 series, where Qi2 support is only functional with a case.
If these rumors prove accurate, it would mark a noteworthy shift for Samsung, and it’s likely that similar enhancements could be made across other models in the series. However, those hoping for similar advancements in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 should temper their expectations. The Z Fold 7 is expected to retain a digitizer similar to the Galaxy S25 Ultra but without the S Pen silo.
