When considering Samsung displays, LED, OLED, and QLED often come to mind. These vibrant technologies significantly contribute to Samsung’s success, showcasing stunning visuals.
However, Samsung is branching out into alternative display technologies by introducing color e-paper displays. Samsung recently launched the Samsung Color E-Paper, a 32-inch panel that utilizes e-ink technology.
One of its standout features is its energy efficiency; it does not consume power while displaying static content. E-ink displays are classified as bistable, meaning they only draw power when the image is changed.
This characteristic makes the Color E-Paper ideal for settings like cafes or businesses that typically showcase static content such as menu boards or advertisements. For businesses needing to update content periodically, the display comes equipped with a built-in 4,600mAh battery, which Samsung claims can last up to 500 days on a single charge.
The display offers a QHD resolution of 2,560×1,440, and Samsung has implemented a color imaging algorithm to enhance accuracy and readability. This ensures the display mimics the appearance of traditional paper posters.
The display features 13.9mm bezels on all sides, which is not the slimmest design. Connectivity options include WiFi and Bluetooth, alongside 8GB of internal storage and two USB-C ports.
Users can manage the display through the Samsung E-Paper app available on both iOS and Android platforms. While aimed primarily at businesses, there’s speculation about Samsung possibly expanding its e-paper technology into e-readers in the future.
The Samsung Color E-Paper is priced at $1,350. Companies looking to order in bulk can obtain it for $1,200 per unit when ordering more than 150 displays.
