Recent leaks suggest that Google will continue using Exynos modems for its upcoming Pixel 10 series, specifically the Exynos 5400 chipset. This information comes from a leak regarding the Pixel 10 Pro prototype, which revealed several specifications, including the chipset that powers the device. According to the DevCheck Pro app, the Pixel 10 Pro is expected to run on the Tensor G5, an eight-core processor.

However, the details of its fabrication process have raised some eyebrows. The app suggests it uses a 5nm process, which seems inconsistent as the previous Tensor G3 and G4 chips were built on a more advanced 4nm process. Insider sources indicate that the Tensor G5 will actually use a 3nm process, along with next year’s Tensor G6.

Interestingly, the use of the Exynos 5400 modem echoes the strategy employed in the Pixel 9, which benefitted from improved performance and thermal management. This move comes amid earlier reports suggesting that the Pixel 10 series might incorporate a MediaTek modem, specifically the T900. The leaks have sparked confusion, particularly around the credibility of the prototype specs.

It’s not uncommon for device manufacturers to spoof specifications, a tactic often employed by companies to prevent sensitive information from being disclosed prematurely. This has been noted before with other brands, such as OPPO, where early devices showcased laughable or inaccurate specifications. Thus, while the information regarding the Exynos modem and Tensor G5 is tantalizing, it’s prudent to approach these leaks with caution, as they may be part of a strategy to obscure vital details until the official release.
