Adobe has officially launched the Photoshop app for Android devices, now available on the Google Play Store. This release comes over three months after the app was made available for iOS users in February. The Android version of this popular photo editing tool allows users to access many of Adobe’s advanced features in a convenient mobile format.
During the initial beta phase, Android users can enjoy all premium Photoshop features for free. This includes essential tools like selections, layers, masks, and exclusive functionalities like Tap Select. However, this beta period is expected to be temporary, with Adobe likely implementing subscription fees for some premium features in the future.
The app is designed to provide powerful on-the-go image editing capabilities. Users can merge and blend photos with core editing tools and utilize the Tap Select feature for quick modification. Additionally, distractions in images can be easily removed using the Spot Healing Brush tool.
Adobe has also integrated Firefly-powered generative AI features, enabling users to create AI-generated art and utilize the Generative Fill tool to transform visual designs. Users can make precise selections with the Object Select and Magic Wand tools as well. Other notable features include the Remove and Clone Stamp tools, as well as advanced blend modes and adjustment layers.
To download and use the Photoshop app, devices need to be running Android 11 or higher and must have a minimum of 6GB of RAM, with 8GB or more recommended for optimal performance. While the app is currently free during its beta phase, it remains unclear how much Adobe will charge for it once the final version is released, with the current subscription cost for iOS users set at $7.99 per month or $69.99 annually.
