Earlier this month, we gave you an exclusive preview of the design for the upcoming OnePlus Nord 5 mid-range smartphone, along with its key specifications prior to the official announcement. Recently, OnePlus confirmed the camera specifications of the Nord 5, aligning with our previous report. This device is expected to be a powerful contender, featuring camera technology typically found in flagship models, such as the OnePlus 13 and the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.
OnePlus has disclosed that the Nord 5 will be equipped with a 50MP Sony LYT-700 main camera sensor, which is also used in the OnePlus 13R. This main sensor will include Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and leverage the flagship HDR algorithm from the OnePlus 13. In addition, the device will sport a 50MP Samsung ISOCELL JN5 front-facing camera that boasts multi-focusing capabilities.
OnePlus mentioned that this front camera “stole” components from a “2025 Ultra” model, hinting at a connection to Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra, although the latter features that sensor on its rear camera. On the rear, the secondary camera is a more modest 8MP ultra-wide lens, which remains consistent with OnePlus’ ultra-wide offerings in previous mid-range models. However, the Nord 5 will not include a telephoto lens, marking another limitation in its camera setup.
As for the overall specifications, the Nord 5 is expected to feature a 6.83-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with IP65 ingress protection. It will run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, with options for up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The phone may also include a substantial 7,000 mAh battery with support for 80W fast charging.
OnePlus is set to host a launch event on July 8th where the Nord 5 will be the centerpiece, alongside the Nord CE 5 and Buds 4 TWS earphones. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks.
