HONOR is gearing up to unveil its latest foldable smartphone, the Magic V5, at an event in China on July 2nd. Pre-reservations for this successor to the HONOR Magic V3 are already available through the company’s official store.
Recent teasers have highlighted the design of the Magic V5, which is set to become the world’s thinnest and lightest foldable smartphone. The Magic V5 aims to surpass the impressive thinness of its predecessor, the Magic V3, which measures 9.2mm when folded and 4.35mm when unfolded.
Early images from the teasers indicate that the upcoming model looks remarkably slim, reinforcing HONOR’s claim of it being the most lightweight foldable smartphone to date. It is suggested that the Magic V5 will be thinner than the current record-holder, the OPPO Find N5, which is 8.9mm thick when folded and 4.2mm in its unfolded state.
Additionally, one of the teaser images reveals a prominently protruding circular camera module at the back, notably thicker than the device itself when unfolded. At a recent MWC Shanghai event, HONOR showcased the Magic V5 with a rugged cover, emphasizing its sleek profile.
The new phone is rumored to feature an LTPO OLED display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. It is expected to come with 16GB of RAM and will incorporate advanced AI capabilities and “PC-level” productivity features, suggesting a dual functionality as both a smartphone and a PC.
Reports also indicate that the Magic V5 could be equipped with a robust 6,100mAh silicon-carbon battery, supporting 66W fast charging. Camera specifications might include a 50MP main camera complemented by a 200MP periscope telephoto lens and an ultrawide-angle lens.
While HONOR has yet to announce a global launch for the Magic V5, more details are anticipated in the lead-up to the launch event.
