The official unveiling of the Galaxy Watch 8 is just around the corner. We have provided exclusive insights into what the 2025 models will feature. Additional leaks have confirmed our findings and presented further details.
Interestingly, the design for the Galaxy Watch 8 series has seemingly been hiding in plain sight all along. Samsung’s next Unpacked event is scheduled for next month, historically a time when the company reveals new products. Over the years, the timing of this second Unpacked event has slowly shifted earlier in the year, with recent events occurring in July.
This event is anticipated to showcase Samsung’s new line of foldable phones alongside the Galaxy Watch 8 smartwatch. In terms of design, Samsung has maintained a consistent look for its Galaxy Watch series over the years, effectively dominating the round wearable market. However, the introduction of the Galaxy Watch Ultra last year showcased a shift towards a squircle design.
It stands to reason that the new generation of models would adhere to similar design principles. Intriguingly, it seems Samsung may have already hinted at the Galaxy Watch 8’s design some time ago. According to recent reports, rather than through leaked images, the design was subtly integrated into an app icon.
The Android 15 based-One UI 7 revealed new clock icons that embody the same squircle design. This format aligns closely with the expected renders of the Galaxy Watch 8 series, suggesting that the app icon was an unintentional preview of the smartwatch’s redesign. While there is a possibility of coincidence, the resemblance is striking enough to suggest it was a deliberate hint.
It is fascinating to think that the look of Samsung’s next smartwatches had been right in front of us, unnoticed all this time.
