Rumors suggest that Apple has plans for a truly bezel-less iPhone, initially anticipated for launch in 2027. However, analyst Ross Young has indicated that these plans may now be postponed to 2030.

In a recent post on X, Young provided a more detailed timeline for Apple’s approach to creating a bezel-less iPhone. He outlines a three-stage design process.

The first stage is set for 2026, which will debut an iPhone featuring a reduced notch. Young noted that some elements of Face ID would continue to be integrated within this smaller notch rather than being fully under the display.

The second stage is expected in 2028, where Apple may implement an all-under-display setup for Face ID. Nonetheless, the front-facing camera would still remain separate, implying that a small notch might still persist.

By the final stage in 2030, Young predicts that Apple will fully embrace an under-display design capable of housing both Face ID and the front-facing camera without any notch or cutout, signifying a complete transition to a bezel-less design. Young expressed confidence in his timeline, responding affirmatively to feedback on his claims.

It is important to note, however, that Young’s assertions contradict some earlier reports. While discussions about Face ID being placed under the display align with previous claims, his suggested timeline diverges from another report asserting that the front-facing camera would transition under the display in 2027 as part of the iPhone’s 20th anniversary launch.

This iteration might also feature a radical redesign, focusing on a mostly-glass look that enhances the full-screen experience. Given the speculative nature of these reports, it remains uncertain which predictions may ultimately materialize.

With several years until the anticipated 2027 iPhone launch, consumers should remain cautious and patient regarding the arrival of a true bezel-less iPhone.
