Currently, artificial intelligence (AI) is making waves in both software applications like photo editing tools and in hardware, such as smartphones. As we await the emergence of an AI-first device from technology innovators like OpenAI and Jony Ive, Solos is stepping into the spotlight with the launch of its new AI-driven smart glasses. Solos has introduced two models, the AirGo A5 and V2, at the Smart Glasses Summit in Hong Kong.

Unlike commonly marketed options from brands like Meta, which is well-known for its Ray-Ban smart glasses, Solos aims to blend aesthetics with functionality in a more understated manner. These glasses are designed to resemble typical eyewear, making them a suitable choice for those seeking subtle tech integration. Focusing on the AirGo A5, this model is characterized as an audio-first device.

It incorporates built-in AI that users can access by simply saying “Hey Solos.” Additionally, it features directional audio technology, enhancing user privacy during interactions. On the other hand, the AirGo V2 caters to consumers looking for more advanced capabilities. This version includes a 16MP stabilized camera and supports real-time streaming through low-power Wi-Fi.

It also integrates the SolosChat 3.1 multi-modal AI for enriched communication. Both models utilize Solos’ SmartHinge modular system, allowing users to interchange frame fronts and batteries, showcasing versatility. The AirGo A5 is priced at $249 and available for pre-order in August, while the AirGo V2 will be released in Q4 2025 for $299.

In a competitive landscape, Solos faces challenges from tech giants like Meta, which recently collaborated with Oakley on new smart glasses. Google and Samsung are also developing headsets, and Apple may expand its offering beyond the Vision Pro. Nonetheless, Solos benefits from a head start in this rapidly evolving market.
