At the WWDC 2025 event yesterday, Apple unveiled several exciting new AI features under the Apple Intelligence initiative. A standout addition is the integration of ChatGPT into Image Playground, an AI-assisted image generation tool.

This enhancement allows users to create diverse AI-generated images with greater ease and creativity. Previously, when Image Playground was launched in a phased manner last year, users expressed dissatisfaction due to its limited style options, which included only three styles: Sketch, 3D Cartoon, and Animation.

With the upcoming release of iOS 26, Apple is expanding the options available for users. Now, additional styles such as “Any Style,” “Oil Painting,” Watercolor, Vector, Anime, and Print are being introduced, making the tool much more versatile.

In practice, users can utilize ChatGPT within Image Playground to create customized images, such as a Contact Poster using a friend’s photo to match their personality. If users are uncertain about which style to choose, they can simply select the “Any Style” option and type in their desired outcome, allowing ChatGPT to generate the image based on the input.

Apple has emphasized that privacy continues to be a core priority. The system relies on in-house on-device AI models for quick and privacy-focused image generation.

Users desiring more creative output have the option to send their requests to ChatGPT; however, Apple assures that users are always in control and that input is not shared without their permission. The existing Image Playground tool has already proven effective, but the addition of ChatGPT enables users to unlock their creative potential even further.

For those interested in trying the public beta of iOS 26 in July, registration is necessary. The official release date for iOS 26 is anticipated in the fall, likely at the end of September.
