Google has been actively enhancing NotebookLM, its Gemini-powered notebook and research tool, with numerous updates. Last month, the company introduced a dedicated Android app for this AI-driven tool, further expanding its capabilities.

Recently, Google announced an exciting new update to NotebookLM that enables users to share their notebooks publicly via links. Sharing your notebooks with classmates, coworkers, students, and friends has now become a seamless process.

This functionality allows users to generate a public link for their notebooks. In an announcement, Google emphasized that this enhancement makes it easier to share and curate materials, whether they are project overviews for nonprofit organizations, product manuals for businesses, or study guides for classes.

The sharing process in NotebookLM resembles the familiar method used in Google Docs. Users can click the Share button located at the top right of their screen and set the access permissions to “Anyone with the link.”

By clicking the “Copy link” button, they can easily paste the notebook link into texts, emails, or social media platforms, accommodating anyone who wishes to view the content. Importantly, while viewers cannot edit the contents of shared notebooks, they can engage with the AI tool by asking questions about the material.

Additionally, they have the option to interact with various AI-generated content, including audio overviews and FAQs. In addition to public sharing, NotebookLM provides the option to grant individual users editing access.

This allows for collaborative work, as users can share notebooks with others simply by entering their email addresses. The platform also includes the capability to share audio overviews directly from the Gemini app, enhancing the overall collaborative experience.
