Have you ever been curious about the best-selling smartphones across different nations? Counterpoint Research has provided insights into the top five best-selling smartphones in eight countries, including the United States, as of March 2025.
In the United States, iPhones dominate the market, with the iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPhone 16 each claiming 11% of sales. The iPhone 16 Pro follows closely with 8%, sharing the same percentage with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy A16 5G.
The trend continues in the United Kingdom, where iPhones also hold the top three positions. The iPhone 16 Pro leads with 12%, followed by the iPhone 16 at 11% and the iPhone 16 Pro Max at 10%.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 and iPhone 16e round out the list, at 6% and 4%, respectively. In China, the competition is much tighter, with the iPhone 16 Pro Max earning 4% of sales.
Close behind are the iPhone 16 Pro, Huawei Nova 13, and iPhone 16—all at 3%—with the OPPO A3x in fifth place, holding 2% of the market. Moving to India, the Vivo Y29 5G takes the lead with 4%, followed by the OPPO A3x and Redmi 14C 5G, both at 3%.
The iPhone 16 and Redmi A3x finish the list with 2% each. In Japan, the iPhone 16e emerges as a clear favorite, securing 21% of the market.
Following it are the iPhone 16 and iPhone 15, with 18% and 15%, respectively. The Google Pixel 8a manages to enter the top five with 5%.
In Germany, the top three spots are once again occupied by iPhones, with the iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 at 10%, 10%, and 8% of the market. This is followed by the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy A16 5G at 7% and 5%.
In France, the Samsung Galaxy S25 leads with 13%, closely followed by the iPhone 16 Pro at 12% and the iPhone 16 at 9%. The Galaxy S25+ and iPhone 16 Pro Max tie at 7%.
Lastly, in South Korea, Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra takes the top spot with 21% of sales, followed by Galaxy S25 at 15%, and Galaxy S25+ with 10%. The Galaxy A16 4G and iPhone 16 Pro Max close out the list with 6% and 5% respectively.
