Samsung has recently introduced the Galaxy S25 Edge as part of its initiative to assess consumer interest in ultra-thin mobile devices. The company appears steadfast in its pursuit of sleek designs, as a recent report suggests that Samsung is committed to this approach.
The flagship series for 2026, the Galaxy S26, is expected to showcase impressive thinness along with an upgraded camera zoom feature. The Galaxy S25 Edge serves as a testament to Samsung’s design vision.
Additionally, the forthcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 is also anticipated to feature a remarkably thin profile. While the S26 series may not match the thickness of the S25 Edge, it is projected to be slimmer than other models within the lineup.
According to insights shared by Ice Universe on Weibo, both the standard Galaxy S26 and the Galaxy S26 Plus are tipped to achieve an incredibly thin profile, measuring around 6.x mm in thickness. The more powerful Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to have a projected thickness of approximately 7.x mm, significantly slimmer than the current Galaxy S25 Ultra, which measures 8.2 mm.
The S25 Plus and the standard S25, measuring 7.3 mm and 7.2 mm respectively, will see a notable reduction across the entire series. The anticipated “thinness range” of the Galaxy S26 series has been corroborated with previous leaks, attributing the reduction in thickness to innovative engineering in the camera design.
Specifically, Samsung may be implementing a new structure for its camera optics. In addition to a sleeker design, the Galaxy S26 series is rumored to introduce an upgraded 3x telephoto lens, enhancing resolution from 10MP to 12MP.
This increase in megapixels is likely to result in sharper and more detailed zoomed-in photos across all models. As reports suggest, the Galaxy S26 Edge could potentially replace the “Plus” model in 2026, contingent on the sales performance of the S25 Edge.
While these developments are still preliminary, the combination of a thinner design and improved camera features has certainly piqued interest in the upcoming Galaxy S26 lineup.
