As WWDC approaches, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has shared comprehensive insights on what to expect from the annual event, which starts on Monday. Gurman indicates that the focus will not be primarily on artificial intelligence but rather on design and productivity enhancements across Apple’s software platforms.
The keynote is scheduled to begin at 10 AM PT and is expected to last around two hours. This is the moment when Apple will introduce updates to its software ecosystems, including iOS 16, iPadOS 26, tvOS 26, visionOS 26, macOS 26, and watchOS 26.
Internally, these updates are referred to by names such as Luck, Charisma, Discovery, Cheer, and Nepali. This year, macOS will continue its theme of naming conventions based on California landmarks, with the latest version dubbed ‘macOS Tahoe.’
A significant highlight of the keynote will be the introduction of a new design for all of Apple’s operating systems, including CarPlay, referred to as ‘Solarium’ internally. This revamped appearance will feature a digital glass interface, increasing the use of light and transparency.
Changes will include new tool and tab bar designs, updated app icons, and a greater emphasis on pop-out menus. However, contrary to some speculation, the iconic round icons of visionOS will not be adopted for iOS or iPadOS.
Several key apps, namely Phone, Safari, and Camera, will undergo extensive redesigns. The Phone app will feature a new view combining favorite contacts, recent calls, and voicemails into one scrollable window, modernizing an interface that has remained largely unchanged since 2007.
Safari is set to receive a fresh look with a transparent address bar, while the Camera app will prioritize simplicity in its revamp. In addition, Apple will introduce the Preview app from macOS to iOS and iPadOS, enabling users to handle PDFs without additional applications.
Furthermore, the most notable AI upgrade will be the introduction of live translation capabilities for phone calls and text messages. WWDC will kick off on Monday at 10 AM PT.
