Samsung is gearing up to unveil the Galaxy Watch 8 series, following the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra launched in the latter half of 2024. Recent teasers from the company highlight an “innovative design” for the forthcoming wearables. A recent leak has provided an early glimpse into the final design of the Galaxy Watch 8.

According to findings from the team at Android Authority, a leak from a One UI 8 Watch firmware has revealed several details about the upcoming Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic models. This information emerged shortly after the devices received clearance from the FCC. The standard Galaxy Watch 8 might move away from the traditional circular design of its predecessor.

Reports suggest that the new model could feature a squircle shape while maintaining a rounded screen, reminiscent of the current Galaxy Watch Ultra. The firmware also indicates that the Galaxy Watch 8 would likely retain the two-button design on its side and will be available in two sizes – small and large, although the precise dimensions have not been disclosed. In contrast, the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic variant is expected to share a similar design with the Galaxy Watch Ultra, possibly adopting the squircle form along with a rounded display.

The leaked information hints at a non-accented Quick Button, similar strong vibrations as the Ultra model, and an absence of confirmation regarding rotating bezels for this variant. The lack of size specifics for the Classic model raises the possibility that it may be released in only one size. The Galaxy Watch 8 series will run on One UI 8 Watch, boasting features such as battery protection, a Shortcuts app, randomized watch faces, and the Antioxidant Index functionality.

Samsung is projected to launch these new wearables alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 in Q3 2025, promising further official announcements soon.
