The Trump administration’s tariffs are currently on hold for 90 days, but tech companies remain uneasy about the potential impact on their operations when they resume. Many original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), such as Apple, have proactively increased their production to build up inventory.

Recently, Samsung has also taken significant steps in anticipation of these tariffs, reportedly ramping up production of its Galaxy S25 phones considerably. In response to ongoing trade tensions, Apple raised its iPhone production by four million units and its iPad production by 1.5 million units just last month.

Samsung, too, is now making moves to bolster its supply of the Galaxy S25, adding an additional 800,000 units this month in light of the looming tariff threat from the U.S. government. Previously, Samsung informed its component suppliers in April of a target of 16.2 million Galaxy phones and tablets, with only about 400,000 of these being tablets.

For May, Samsung plans to increase its production of the Galaxy S25 series to a total of 3.3 million units. Notably, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is receiving special emphasis, with 1.5 million units allocated for production this month.

The standard and Plus models are set to account for 1.3 million and 500,000 units, respectively. The reason behind this urgent production drive is the U.S. government’s plan to boost tariffs on imported goods from South Korea to 25 percent.

With the tariff situation still in flux, Samsung is working to fill its warehouses with Galaxy S25 units, particularly the Ultra model, before the tariffs take effect. However, despite this increase in production for May, the company plans to scale back in June, reflecting the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the tariffs.
