Samsung has recently unveiled the sleek Galaxy S25 Edge smartphone and is reportedly planning to host an Unpacked event in July. During this event, the company is expected to introduce its next-generation foldable smartphones along with the Galaxy Watch 8 series. As anticipation builds for the launch, leaks have surfaced providing insights into the design and features of the new Samsung watches.
Notably, one leak suggests that the Galaxy Watch 8 may retain the same processor as its predecessor. Recent findings from Android Authority indicate that the Galaxy Watch 8 will likely feature the Exynos W1000 processor, which is also used in the Galaxy Watch 7 series. A code string from an early version of the upcoming One UI 8 Watch reveals that the new models carry the same processor part number, suggesting minimal hardware upgrades in favor of design and software enhancements.
The Exynos W1000 is a robust wearable chip that offers significant improvements over prior models, including a five-core CPU for better performance and efficiency due to its 3nm fabrication process. In addition to the hardware consistency, the One UI 8 Watch update is expected to introduce a range of new features. Among these are new tiles for a Calculator, Voice Recorder, and a controller for Galaxy Buds.
Users will have the ability to quickly launch the Recorder app using the side Quick Button, with various press actions enabling them to record, stop, or pause/resume recordings with ease. This feature will be especially handy for quickly taking voice notes without needing a smartphone. Samsung could unveil the Galaxy Watch 8 and the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic at the upcoming Unpacked event in July.
Given the time left until the launch, more details about these exciting new wearables are likely to surface soon.
