OnePlus has unveiled a new brand, ‘OnePlus AI’, focusing on innovative AI features. In conjunction with this announcement, the company introduced the Plus Key and Plus Mind. These features aim to enhance user experience by offering personalized AI solutions that cater to individual needs. The Plus Key is essentially a customizable hardware button set to launch with the OnePlus 13s on June 5, although it will initially be available exclusively in India.
This limitation raises concerns about potential availability in other regions. According to OnePlus, the Plus Key is designed to boost productivity, creativity, and security. Arthur Lam, the director of OxygenOS and AI Strategy, emphasized that OnePlus AI is built upon a deep understanding of user desires for efficient and authentic interactions with technology. The overarching goal is to assist users in living life to the fullest by tailoring solutions to their specific preferences.
The Plus Key allows users to perform various functions, such as switching sound profiles, launching the camera, or initiating translations, among other actions. It serves as an evolution of the well-regarded Alert Slider. Moreover, the button activates the AI Plus Mind, a feature designed to save and catalog pertinent information displayed on the screen. AI Plus Mind enables users to capture essential information, such as event details, by pressing the Plus Key or swiping upwards with three fingers.
It intelligently saves relevant content to a designated Mind Space. The tool also analyzes content contextually, extracting details like schedule information to add directly to the user’s calendar. Integrated AI Search allows for natural language queries, making content retrieval seamless. OnePlus plans to extend AI Plus Mind to the entire OnePlus 13 series through software updates and will look into expanding these features to additional devices.
The company is also developing various AI-driven tools, including AI VoiceScribe and AI Call Assistant, both of which will initially focus on the Indian market. Lastly, there are plans for deeper integration with Google Gemini for improved functionality across OxygenOS applications.
